Subcollections Tree allows merchants to create and manage hierarchical collection navigation structures for Shopify stores, including storefront navigation menus, breadcrumbs, and subcollection displays powered by Shopify metafields.
1. Information We Collect
When you install and use the App, we collect only the information necessary to provide the App’s functionality.
We do not collect or process customer personal information, order data, or payment information from your storefront customers.
a) Store Information
Collected automatically during app installation and authentication:
- Shopify store name and myshopify.com domain
- Merchant contact email
- Shopify authentication session data and API access tokens
Why We Collect It
To:
- authenticate the merchant
- securely communicate with Shopify APIs
- provide app functionality
- manage subscriptions and app access
- maintain secure sessions
b) Collection & Navigation Data
The App reads and writes Shopify collection and navigation data as part of its functionality.
Data Read From Shopify
- Collection titles, handles, IDs, images, and publication status
- Shopify navigation menus and menu item hierarchy
- Existing collection metafields used by the App
Data Written By The App
The App writes hierarchy-related metafields to Shopify collections and shop metafields, including:
- collection hierarchy relationships
- parent/child collection references
- breadcrumb paths
- navigation snapshots
- sort order metadata
Why We Collect It
To:
- build collection hierarchies
- generate storefront navigation
- render breadcrumbs and child collection cards
- support import, rebuild, and synchronization operations
c) App-Generated Data
The App stores operational data required for functionality, including:
- collection hierarchy structures
- import job records and processing state
- rebuild and purge job history
- webhook processing records
- merchant session data
Why We Collect It
To:
- provide reliable app functionality
- process background jobs safely
- maintain synchronization with Shopify
- improve app reliability and troubleshooting
d) Data We Do NOT Collect
The App does not collect, process, or store:
- customer names
- customer email addresses
- phone numbers
- shipping or billing addresses
- order or transaction information
- payment card or banking information
- customer browsing behavior
- advertising or marketing tracking data
Billing and subscription payments are processed directly by Shopify. We do not collect or store payment card information.
2. How We Use Information
We use collected information solely to:
- provide and operate the App
- build and manage collection hierarchies
- synchronize Shopify metafields
- render storefront navigation structures
- process imports and rebuild jobs
- authenticate merchant sessions
- manage billing and subscriptions
- improve app performance and reliability

We do not sell or rent merchant data.
3. Data Storage
Application data is stored in a secure PostgreSQL database hosted on protected cloud infrastructure.
We implement reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect stored information from unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse.
4. Data Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell, trade, or share merchant data for advertising or marketing purposes.
We may share information only:
- with infrastructure and hosting providers required to operate the App
- when required by law or legal process
- to protect our rights, security, or property
- to prevent fraud, abuse, or security threats
Infrastructure providers may include cloud hosting, database hosting, monitoring, and operational support services necessary for secure App operation.
5. Data Retention & Deletion
We retain App-related data only while the App remains installed and active on your Shopify store.
After app uninstallation, associated App data is scheduled for deletion from our systems within a reasonable period, typically within 48 hours.
